Casting Call for Musical Theatre of Anthem’s Willy Wonka, Jr.

Musical Theatre of Anthem (MTA) is holding auditions for its upcoming musical production of Willy Wonka, Jr. Roald Dahl's timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Join the Candy Man, Charlie, and the Oompa Loompa’s with available roles for ages 6-12; all who audition are cast. The memorable score features “The Candy Man,” “Pure Imagination,” “Oompa Loompa” and “I Want it Now” by Academy® and Grammy® award winners Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley.
Vocal auditions will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. The Dance Call for all auditioners will be on Sunday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m., with callbacks at 1:00 p.m. Auditions, callbacks, and rehearsals take place at the MTA rehearsal suite at 39504 N. Daisy Mountain Dr. in Anthem, near Yogurt Garden and Starbucks. Those auditioning should prepare a musical theatre song, 16-32 bars or one minute in length. Bring an accompaniment CD or iPod to sing with; you may also sing a capella if needed. Please have your registration materials (available on the website) completed prior to coming to the audition. Rehearsals begin January 19, with all performances taking place March 29 - April 1 at Boulder Creek High School Mini Auditorium. The production staff includes: producer Jackie Hammond, director Laura O’Meara, assistant director Zac Coffey, vocal director Ginette Rossi, and choreographer Shawna Quain Weitekamp.
Audition Preparation Acting Classes with veteran director Laura O’Meara will be held on Tuesday, January 10, with a limit of 18 participants for each 90-minute session. Also available with O’Meara are 30-minute One-On-One sessions on Thursday, January 12 and Friday, January 13.
